Site Visit - 12th September 2018

It has been several weeks since the first status update on Joslin Central. Construction on this project is well underway. As site cut and plumbing installation is completed, the slab is laid down for 2 units at the rear of the site.

As the slab for the rear townhouses are laid, the form work is being prepared for the front townhouses. The block work retaining wall has also been installed between units 2 and 3.

The framework has been delivered to site in preparation for installation. As you can see in the image, we have decided to use steel frame construction for Joslin Central.
There are many pros and cons on using steel vs timber framing. Steel is stronger and has better fire and termite resistance, as opposed to timber costing less, is easier to construct and make changes. However, with the world shortage of suitable timber for construction increasingly becoming a problem, Sehez Construciton and Marisa Group have decided to upgrade to steel frame construction.
As construction continues, we will endeavour to provide updates on this blog. Stay tuned...
